How often will I need to add water to the fountain?

Under normal circumstances, you will want to add water to your fountain every two or three days. The frequency largely depends on humidity and the size of the fountain. The larger the fountain reservoir, the less frequently you will need to add water. Our fountains have extra large reservoirs (the largest on the market), enough to go approximately a week before damage to the fountain pump becomes an issue. It is good practice to add water every couple days. This ensures the maximum life cycle for your fountain pump.

Does water splash out of the fountain?

Our fountains are designed so that water rarely splashes out of the reservoir. These are handcrafted fountains made for interior home decoration. If you are having trouble with water splashing, adjust the pump to a lower setting. All the pumps used in our fountains are adjustable. It is also a good idea to locate your fountain on a surface that is not affected adversely by occasional water leaving the fountain. A simple table cloth, place mat, or anything able to absorb a little water goes a long way to protecting the surface where you decide to place your fountain.

What is an LED?

LED is an acronym for Light Emitting Diode. You may be familiar with LEDs on the front of your DVD, VCR, or alarm clock. Recently LEDs have been gaining in popularity as new technologies make them ever more useful and durable. You see them in flash lights, automotive applications, and even in traffic lights. It is predicted that LEDs will eventually replace the standard incandescent household light bulb. LEDs do not operate using a filament like household incandescent bulbs. LEDs are solid state and under normal situations, have a life expectancy of 100,000 hours. There is an enormous amount of information on the Internet regarding LEDs.

Our custom fountains use a variety of different color LEDs.

This is a picture of one of the LED assemblies that lights our handcrafted water fountains. We call it the bullet!! LEDs are amazing!! They use very little current, give off virtually no heat, don’t attract insects, and will last a very long time.

We purchase the LEDs in bulk and strategically encase them in aluminum and a bed of epoxy. This makes the LED assemblies completely impervious to water and moisture. They can even function completely submerged in water.

We can design the assemblies in a variety of light colors and operating voltages. The 12 volt styles are very popular for custom automobile shops. These LED assemblies are so versatile and can be used for automobile interiors, motorcycles, vans and RVs, under kitchen cabinets or in entertainment centers, and landscape lighting. With a simple rubber grommet, the Bullet will mount easily in a variety of panel thicknesses. The Bullet LED has a 5/16” outside diameter and, depending on the design, they are either 1” or 1.25” in length. They are also available in stainless steel instead of aluminum.

All you need to make it light up is a little power adaptor or a battery of the correct voltage. You can gang tens or hundreds of these little Bullet lights together for unlimited possibilities.
 

Can the fountains be used outdoors?

Yes, our fountains do very well in an outdoor setting. The acrylic used withstands the harshest environments. Wood, on the other hand does not hold up nearly as well as acrylic. Wood consideration is important if you plan on keeping your fountain outside. White oak, cedar, and redwood are all woods that do very well outdoors. It would be best to place your fountain in a spot that is under cover, perhaps on a deck, porch, or patio.

Are any other sizes or colors available?

The sizes and colors are limited only to your imagination. Visit our Custom Fountains Page to learn more. Containers are readily available in many sizes and shapes. Acrylic is available in many hundreds of different colors and designs. There are many wood choices as well.

Are any other woods or finish options available?

Wood types and finish options are almost unlimited. Woods include but are not limited to: Red Oak, Black Walnut, Cherry, Redwood, White Oak, Cedar, Sassafras, and Mahogany. Any commercially available finish can be requested to enhance the look and durability of your fountain. Wood selection is critical if you plan on using your fountain outdoors. The most popular woods used on our table top water fountains are red oak and black walnut, which are perfect for interior home decoration.

Can I adjust the level of the water sound?

Yes, you certainly can. You may notice that the longer your fountain goes without adding water, the louder it gets. This is because the majority of the soothing sound is generated when water falls from the lowest level back into the reservoir. The lower the water level, the further the water falls and the louder the fountain becomes. Maintaining a specific water level results in a uniform and consistent level of sound.

Can your fountains be shipped internationally?

Currently, our web cart is not geared for payment or shipping on international orders. Please be aware that our fountain pump and lights are designed to work on United States voltage of 115 volts. What is your return policy?

Your satisfaction is absolutely our number one priority. Purchase any of the handcrafted gift item products on this website and if for any reason you decide your purchase is not satisfactory or just isn't for you, simply return it to us postage paid, within 15 days and we will promptly issue a refund. Product must be returned in SALEABLE condition with all accessories to receive full credit. Sorry, we cannot accept returns on custom orders.

How much maintenance is involved?

The amount of maintenance largely depends on the quality of your water.

“I personally have well water which is very hard. This requires me to periodically to empty my fountain reservoir and clean the hard water deposits from the acrylic with vinegar or a mild detergent and a bottle brush. All of our fountains are shipped with an appropriate cleaning brush to make the cleaning task as painless as possible. The fountain pumps are also designed with a removable cover to allow them to be periodically cleaned. The pump manufacturer recommends cleaning the pump with water only! The LED lights should never require any type of maintenance.”

What can I do to prevent hard water deposits from accumulating on the fountain surfaces?

Unfortunately, hard water deposits can be tough to deal with. The best solution is cleaning on a periodic basis. There are water additives that can be purchased specifically for fountain use, although we have found them to be relatively ineffective on hard water deposits. Vinegar, on the other hand dissolves hard water residue in short order. Another solution would be to fill your fountain with distilled water, although this may be cost prohibitive for many consumers.
